When people say "my wedding song" do they mean during the ceremony or their first dance or what?

I found the answers that say first dance to be interesting, but not accurate for my area--small town South. Here the wedding song is a song that is sung during the wedding, for example my daughter's wedding song was "Annie" by John Denver and was sung by the groom's college roommate. While there was dancing at her reception, I have attended many weddings that have a ceremony wedding song, but no dancing at the reception so there wouldn't be a first dance.

I consider it the song my husband and I danced to at the reception.
Reply:I cringe whenever I read this, too. We mostly infer that they mean the first dance song. As with lots of questions, posters don't take the time to make sure what they are asking about is CLEAR!
Reply:yea its the first dance you and your husband dance to,choose something you both like slow and romantic all the best
Reply:The first dance
Reply:It can mean BOTH. The one played at the service is often a contemplative, melodic tune with or with out a vocal part.

The first dance is often more uptempo and fun.

Either one is your "wedding song"
Reply:"My wedding song" normally refers to the couple's first dance as husband and wife.
Reply:When I think of it, I think of the first dance song.
Reply:Usually its the first dance you and your spouse dance to as husband and wife.
Reply:Its the song they choose to dance too at their wedding. The song that they both agree on thats "their song."
Reply:First dance
Reply:when a bride says I have my wedding song picked, it's the first dance that she will dance as Mr and Mrs so and so
