Is our wedding song too one-sided?

My fiance and I have chosen She's Everything by Brad Paisley for our first dance at our wedding. He says it's perfect and it has been special to us since we met. However some of my friends have made the statement that the song is all about the girl and a wedding song should be about the couple. This is really the only song that has meaning to us, so does it matter? Please don't comment if you haven't heard the song or read the lyrics.

Is our wedding song too one-sided?
if this is a song the two of you enjoy and share a fondness for then its the song you should have! your friend's opinions are just that - their opinions - and they don't count - yours does. so have your song sweetie and if you want to do something more then later in the evening have the d.j. play brad's new song "i'm still a guy" its a fun song and is one-sided as well!

good luck sweetie and happy wedding!!
Reply:This is going to be a special day for both of you. You guys have chosen a song that as you said, has a special meaning to both of you.

Unfortunately there will always going to be someone putting their two cents in. If the comment comes up again, just tell them the song has a special meaning to BOTH of you and BOTH of you choose it.

By the way it is a beautiful song.
Reply:The importance of the wedding song is that it represents the couple. If that song has meaning to the two of you then that IS THE SONG that you should use. I love the song, and so what if its all about the girl? If he likes and you like it, give everyone that doesnt a pair of ear plugs(LOL)!! Good luck at your wedding and please use that song, I can tell it really does mean something to you.
Reply:I would say that if you both like that song then use it.

But

My friend had that song..i forget the name. anyway the version from shrek.

"Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer"

I thought it was very one sided plus I know that she always thought that she was the most beautiful women in the world and that she is/was too pretty for her husband. I didn't think it was a good choice in song (knowing how she felt).

Choose the song that suits you best as a couple and if it happens to be a one sided song (for the right reasons) then choose it.
Reply:I don't know the song but I'm going to comment anyway. If the song is important to the both of you, and that's the song you want, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Your wedding is your day. It's all about you. If there are people who don't like how you want your wedding and reception, they can choose not to come. You will have enough going on that you don't need the petty drama.
Reply:Who cares what everyone else says? If the song is special to you as a couple then don't worry. My husband and I didn't even tell people what song we were going to play to avoid negative comments. If you two like it that is all that matters.

When people say it is one sided just reply that, oh well when you chose your wedding song I guess it wont be this one then
Reply:I think it is an amazing song and would make a great first dance. I LOVE country music and have heard this song a million time and love it. If it has a special meaning to you guys that makes it even better. Congratulation!!! :)
Reply:I agree that the song is very one sided. But since it holds special neaning to you and you both like it - use it. You can always use other songs later on that focus on the couple.
Reply:iv herd the song so i think you should try a slower song that one next
Reply:It if has meaning to you, by all means DO IT!
Reply:You could always pick a more "couple-like" song for your last dance.

If the song is meaningful to the two of you, then it's the song you should be using! Have fun, enjoy it.

Here are the lyrics:

She's a yellow pair of running shoes

A holey pair of jeans

She looks great in cheap sunglasses

She looks great in anything

She's I want a piece of chocolate

Take me to a movie

She's I can't find a thing to wear

Now and then she's moody

She's a Saturn with a sunroof

With her brown hair a-blowing

She's a soft place to land

And a good feeling knowing

She's a warm conversation

That I wouldn't miss for nothing

She's a fighter when she's mad

And she's a lover when she's loving

[Chorus]

And she's everything I ever wanted

And everything I need

I talk about her, I go on and on and on

'Cause she's everything to me

She's a Saturday out on the town

And a church girl on Sunday

She's a cross around her neck

And a cuss word 'cause its Monday

She's a bubble bath and candles

Baby come and kiss me

She's a one glass of wine

And she's feeling kinda tipsy

She's the giver I wish I could be

And the stealer of the covers

She's a picture in my wallet

Of my unborn children's mother

She's the hand that I'm holding

When I'm on my knees and praying

She's the answer to my prayer

And she's the song that I'm playing

[Repeat chorus]

She's the voice I love to hear

Someday when I'm ninety

She's that wooden rocking chair

I want rocking right beside me

Everyday that passes

I only love her more

Yeah, she's the one

That I'd lay down my own life for

And she's everything I ever wanted

And everything I need

She's everything to me

Yeah she's everything to me
