What was your first dance song at your wedding and why did you choose it?

My husband is Greek and we had a really hard time from his family when we were first together, it was a holday romance and everyone told us that it would never work. Well, we proved them wrong and when we walked into our wedding reception Shana Twain "still the one" was on. I always told my hubby that one day this song would play at our wedding as the lyrics were so apt!! ""Looks like we made it, look how far we've come my baby, we mighta took the long way, we knew we'd get there someday. They said, I'll bet ther'll never make it, but just look at us holding on, still together still going strong"

It was the most emotional moment of my life.

What was your first dance song at your wedding and why did you choose it?
I bet it was emotional! I know I will be very emotional myself. I get choked up at every wedding, so my own will just be crazy. Its on Saturday and I cannot wait.

Our Song will be Crush by Smashing Pumpkins.

We chose it because its a bit different, and about a year or two ago we were fighting and that song came on, He said "You know I think of you and how much I love you everytime this song comes on" and I said "I think of you too!" We both had the same thoughts about the song, so we have known it was "our" song for a long time.

:-) (and the bass is killer in it!)
Reply:Our first dance song will be by KEM called Can't Stop Loving You.

My fiance played it for me shortly after we started dating and said this is the song we'll play at our wedding!

I love the song and it's perfect for us.
Reply:Well if i make it up the aisle a second time i guess i will be looking for a song that's asking 'and how the hell did that happen?'
Reply:amazed by lonestar,if you listen to the words it describes our relantionship perfectly
Reply:I love that you chose such a special wedding song. Make sure you do what my husband and I do - dance to that song every wedding anniversary! We do, usually in the living room!

We had a traditional Ukrainian wedding, and our first dance song was a traditional Ukrainian love ballad.

Good luck with the upcoming baby!
Reply:our first dance was to "make you feel my love" by bob dylan

father/daughter -"what a wonderful world" wille nelson

mother /son -"simple man" skynyrd

cake cutting song - "love is all around" by the troggs

wedding party dance 'into the mystic" by van morrison

anniversary dance "love you til the end" by the pogues and "have i told you lately" by van morrison and the cheiftans.
Reply:well when me and my ex husband got married we didn't have music at our wedding as we kinda eloped :O) but at my next wedding it's prob gonna be,"amazed" by lone-star, the lyrics are just perfect for how i feel bout my man (just hope he's OK with me picking the song) lol x
Reply:We used Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton, we both just really liked the song, it was our style I guess. Came into lets get ready to rumble, not really romantic, but once again, kinda funny and in general our style. Last dance was to I wanna grow old with you by adam sandler, its funny and very realistic about the way marriage is, and how we will help each other out when things aren't perfect, plus it was just different, it was a big hit!
Reply:Mine was Aerosmith, I dont wanna miss a thing. Its just our song, and everyone knows it is.

But at the actual ceremony we had Enya's Lothlorien and Clannad playing.
Reply:We're going to dance to "As" by Stevie Wonder. Early into our relationship we took a trip to NYC, and heard it. It completely described our love. We're an interracial couple who truly believes our love can change people's hearts about how unexpected love is.

It's a long song, so we're not going to dance its entirety. Here are some of the lyrics:

Did you know that true love asks for nothing

Her acceptance is the way we pay

Did you know that life has given love a guarantee

To last through forever and another day

Just as time knew to move on since the beginning

And the seasons know exactly when to change

Just as kindness knows no shame

Know through all your joy and pain

That I'll be loving you always

As today I know I'm living but tomorrow

Could make me the past but that I mustn't fear

For I'll know deep in my mind

The love of me I've left behind Cause I'll be loving you always

Until the day is night and night becomes the day---ALWAYS

Until the trees and seas just up and fly away---ALWAYS

Until the day that 8x8x8 is 4---ALWAYS

Until the day that is the day that are no more

Did you know that you're loved by somebody?

Until the day the earth starts turning right to left---ALWAYS

Until the earth just for the sun denies itself

I'll be loving you forever

Until dear Mother Nature says her work is through---ALWAYS

Until the day that you are me and I am you

Until the rainbow burns the stars out in the sky

We all know sometimes lifes hates and troubles

Can make you wish you were born in another time and space

But you can bet you life times that and twice its double

That God knew exactly where he wanted you to be placed

so make sure when you say you're in it but not of it

You're not helping to make this earth a place sometimes called Hell

Change your words into truths and then change that truth into love

And maybe our children's grandchildren

And their great-great grandchildren will tell

I'll be loving you
Reply:Me and my husband had a few people who didnt think it would work.

We walked down the 'aisle' to Westlifes 'Flying without Wings' because the words were perfect

We too had 'Still the one' for similar reasons and we walked back down the 'aisle' together to Sonny %26amp; Chers 'I got u babe'

I think that the wedding songs should be personal and have great meaning to them. We made sure the songs were perfect and don't regret them 6 years later xxx
Reply:"Keeper of the Stars" by Tracy Byrd. We picked it as the wedding dance (and had a friend sing it in the wedding) because, well, we liked it.

... and on Thursday, it will be 10 years.
Reply:I am getting married Aug 2008 and the first song is going to be "Made to love You" by the late Gerald Levert. I told my fiance' that this was one of my favorite songs, so on my birthday he played this song and song it to me as well and i told him this is the song that we are going to play at every year for the rest of our lives. Juts the first song to start off the rest of the songs, not the only song
Reply:We had "Love Bites" by a Def Leppard tribute band. I forgot all about my wife though and started jamming with the band.
Reply:Your wedding day sounds like it was wonderful! Congrats!

My and my husband's song was/is "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green; "Let's stay together...loving you forever, and ever...When times are good, or bad...happy or sad..."

I wish I could re-live my wedding day all over again. It was beautiful, emotional, wonderful!
Reply:if and when i get married its aerosmith dont want to miss a thing because we both like that song and it tells how we feel towards each other that we dont want to miss a thing
Reply:Michelle Featherstone has a beautiful new song out called we are man and wife she has it on her myspace page. I think that is the song we are going to dance to :) Good luck with your upcoming wedding
Reply:We are dancing to Natalie Cole's Our Love. I picked this because the words are so us. It talks about our love will never die because we'll always have each other. It's a great piece!
Reply:OMG, I danced that song at my wedding, but in spanish.

Al fin llegamos a la cima del cielo por amarnos

Al mundo desafiamos

seguimos unidos y enamorados

Yo se que nadie penso que nuestro amor

duraria pero hoy aqui estamos amandonos

My husband and I had been officially dating for only 7 months when he asked for my hand in marriage. And we got married 2 months after that. Everyone assumed I was pregnant and kept saying we were gonna leave each other within a year. We have known each other since 4 grade so they had no clue how strong our bond and our love is!!
Reply:well i am getting married next year and i have told my hubby to be that we will have 'When i See you smile' by Bad English sung by my friend as he downloaded this song for me and left a note when he went to work for me to listen he said the words were how he felt about me, i cried when i listened as it goes

When I see you smile, I can face the world

Oh oh, you know I can do anything

When I see you smile, I see a ray of light

Oh oh, I see it shining right through the rain

When I see you smile, baby, baby when I see you smile at me

Sometimes I wanna give up

I wanna give in

I wanna quit the fight

Then one look at you baby, and everything's alright, everything's alright

So right

it is beautiful, there are so many amazing songs out there, that if it was not for having a special meaning it would be so hard to choose.

your song was very fitting and i wish you all the best and im glad you proved them all wrong, all the best with your baby and the future. xx
Reply:not married yet but we are going to do it slightly different. Instead of a slow song we are going to have 'You never can tell' by Chuck Berry and do the dance from Pulp Fiction done by Uma Thurman and John Travolta.
Reply:"I'll Be" by Edwin McCain because it said all the things that we wished to say to each other. :)

Congrats to you! I am due in November!
Reply:I'm getting married in 3 weeks time :o) and we are going to have our first dance to "I could not ask for more" by Edwin McCain. I'd never heard of him, let alone the song, until I started searching the web for a song with romantic lyrics. I can't wait for my husband to take me in his arms..... heavenly!
Reply:We didn't have dancing at our wedding.
