Is the dollar dance at a wedding a slow song or a fast song?

If you could give me all the info that you know on the dollar dance for a wedding reception. Please feel free to clue me in! thanks :)

It is usually a tacky song.
Reply:usually it is a slow song although it depends on the culture. However, (just to give you fair warning) I've been to a wedding in key west where the dollar dance is actually a fast song and hilarious and a little blush worthy. Basically everyone puts a dollar in their belt buckle, a dime in one side pocket and a nickel in the other and then a quarter in their back pocket. then there is this goofy song. Then the song is mostly just a person singing / shouting out "Dollar!, Nickel!, Dollar! Dime!" .. etc and everyone who is dancing like... thrusts their hips in the direction of the right money. Then the chorus of the song is just this guy saying "Dolla! Dolla! Dolla! Dolla!" like really fast so you can imagine what this ends up looking like.





This is PROBABLY not the dollar dance you are referring to but still, I feel like I need to warn people about it.

Reply:The dollar dance is usually a slow dance. Most times your best man and maid of honor will have a jar or some container to collect the money and will have guests line up to dance with either the groom or the bride. Sometimes the DJ will announce that just because it is called a "Dollar" dance the guests can feel free to pay more. When you are making the arrangements with the DJ you can ask how they normally handle it so that you are comfortable with what is said during the dances.
Reply:generally its a couple slow dances. depends on how many people get in line. generally the bride dances with the guys the groom dances with the girls .whoever puts in a dollar gets a dance.
Reply:Every wedding I have been to with the dollar dance was a slow song. It is your wedding and what you want. I think a fast song would be fun and differant.

Reply:i just got married on march 29th and our song was Isnt she lovely-stevie wonder...wasnt really that fast but it wasnt slow either...almost somewhere in between....it was perfect for us (we both danced) =]
