How Did You Choose Your Wedding Song?

As in, the first dance song. I have some ideas if songs that my FH gave to me in a CD (love songs) when we were newly into our relationship. I have got a couple - Your Body Is A Wonderland (John Mayer) or Slide (Goo Goo Dolls) but I don't know if these are appropriate for a wedding. So, how did you or have you chosen your wedding song?

How Did You Choose Your Wedding Song?
My fiance and and I always tell the other to "dream about me" right before we get off the phone at night or go to sleep. Years ago I jokingly suggested our song was Dream A Little Dream Of Me by Louis Armstrong and somehow it stuck. That is the song we always dance in the kitchen to and that will be our first dance.
Reply:-What I did was look up various love songs, and listened to them to find which ones sounded really nice. Then, I looked up the lyrics to see what song described us and our love the best. From that, I narrowed the songs down to my top 5 favorites. After that, my husband (fiance' at the time) and I selected our wedding song.





-By the way, my husband (fiance' at the time) was being lazy about going through the process of trying to find the songs. He just wanted to be included in the selection choice after I narrowed the list down. Hope your future hubby helps a little more than my husband did.





-I've seen people ask for help on yahoo answers for possible first dance songs for their wedding. Yahoo answers could be a good start for you.

Jason and I are dancing to Paul Simon's "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes." It's been our song since our first date and it fits our beach themed wedding.





He wanted Simon and Garfunkle's "Sound of Silence," but it's too sad of a song, as pretty as it is.
Reply:Since my wife and I knew each other for so long it was fairly easy. Over the years we have made plenty of CDs for trips, beach parties, house parties etc. - You must remember that we came up during a time before IPods and mp3 players. So, we actually pulled out all the old "best song mixes" and went though them. We ended up choosing Dave Matthews Two Step as the sond that we walked into the reception to and Jimmy Buffet's All the Ways I Want You.





My suggestion is to sit down and think about all the fun times that you have had with you future spouse and choose a song or songs that fit both your personalities and how you feel about each other
Reply:On our second date, he picked me up and had the Sade CD in his car....and I never heard the song "By Your Side" and i was like wow this is a nice song, and he held my hand in the car, and thats how it became our song and we danced to it at our wedding 4 years later! :)
Reply:It's just always been "our" song, since we first started dating. About one or two months in, I was like, "We need a song," and so we started naming romantic songs we like, and it was the one we both liked equally as well.





It's "Can't Help Falling in Love," by the way...
Reply:We're still trying to figure that one out! We want a non-cheesy song, possibly something in the rock genre, that would be beautiful and fit our personalities at the same time. So far we haven't come across it.





The only song we've chosen is the one I'll walk down the aisle to. The rest we need to figure out.

Reply:for me, i know straight away that i want jazz songs so i targeted those jazz CDs that I have and then i chose the one that reflects my feelings at the moment that i'm marrying my husband. My wedding song is "Loving You" by Julia Forham
Reply:I'd go with "Slide" - I think it's a great song and wedding appropriate. The other one you could probably play somewhere in the reception, but maybe later one, but I wouldn't make it your first dance...
Reply:I actually chose my wedding song from a suggestion from someone on Yahoo Answers. I chose "The Wedding Song" by Peter, Paul and Mary. It is so beautiful! I hope this helps.

He had never heard it.. it was an MP3 turned ringtone.


It was Holy Ghost Girl by Canton Jones.





What he doesn't know is that I am this close to getting Canton Jones to sing at our wedding ( HAHAHAAH)
