Im thinking of having my best friend sing my wedding song at my wedding. Is this a bad idea?

We've been best friends since 6th grade, and she is an AMAZING singer.

Is this a bad idea?

I dont have a song picked out yet, and it would only be if shes ok with singing the song i choose.

It's a wonderful way to honour your friend and make your day special. One thing to bear in mind, most singers are not comfortable with every genre of music and you may need to rely on her input with regard to what piece will best suit her voice.
Reply:Definitely not a bad idea. Here are some tips. Make sure that she speaks with the musicians that you are hiring. If it's at a church, the church should have a pianist or guitarist they can reccomend. (Do not have her sing to a recording, tacky tacky tacky!)

If you are having a ceremony in a church it's important to check with the church because there may be some restrictions on the type of music you can choose. The accompanist can help with song selection and she should be able to set up rehearsal time with them.

Here is a great web site with some song suggestions:

Here are some popular choices for the song after the vows or during the unity candle:

How Beautiful - Twila Paris

The Wedding Song - Paul Stookey (good for harmony very traditional)

Wherever You Go - Weston Priory/Gregory Norbet

Covenant Hymn - Gary Daigle

Beginning Today - Darryl Ducote

I Am Here - Steven Curtis Chapman

One Hand One Heart (from West Side Story)

Let there Be Peace On Earth - Jill Jackson/Seymour Miller

The Prayer - David Foster/Carol Bayer Sager (recorded by Andreas Bocelli and Celine Dion)

Where There is Love - David Haas

You Raise Me Up - Rolf Lovland %26amp; Brendan Graham

When God Made You – Natalie Grant/New Song

The First Time I loved Forever – Melanie Safka/Lee Holdridge

Good luck!
Reply:No, it's a GREAT way to include her.

I had my Godsister sing at my wedding and several guests came up to me afterwards (and her) and said she had the most amazing singing voice. It's a great way to include your friends and show off her talent!
Reply:When my best friend got married I sang the Ava Maria in a Catholic mass. We had a lot of fun. I really enjoyed that I could do that for her. I say go for it!
Reply:that is a great idea and plus it will show her that she is needed and important congratulations and remember its your day!!!
Reply:She would probably be very honored.

I sang at a good friend's wedding, then at my sister's wedding - and it's a special thing to do.
