I need to find a wedding song to dance to for the father/daughter song but since my father passed away?

i need to find a song that would be appropriate for me to dance to with my brother in law who married my sister when I was 4 and has treated me like a daughter and a friend. I also want to find an

old yet uncommon first song to dance with my future husband.

Something very meaningful . Please give me a few choices.

Thanks

I need to find a wedding song to dance to for the father/daughter song but since my father passed away?
First of all congratulations! You are very lucky to have a brother-in-law like that.

Honestly I'm looking up lyrics to everyone else's suggestions and I am crying reading them. I can only imagine how bad it would be at my wedding..

As others have mentioned, the song "Dance With My Father" by Luther Vandross is a beautiful song. The only thing about it is if my father were to not be there on my wedding day, I think that song would be too painful for me for me to dance at my wedding to. I would want my wedding to be a happy time for everyone and during that song I would be a mess! But you may be different!

I think "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder is a beautiful song. Also, "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. And "Wind Beneath My Wings". I think all of these are beautiful and no matter what you dance to you will have a very meaningful dance.

As for songs to dance for your first dance, do you and your husband have a song? Is there any song that holds a signifcant meaning to you both? That would be a way that would make it memorable.

Congratulations again and I wish you and your (future) husband all the best!
Reply:Luther Vandross - Dance With My Father. It's so beautiful. Talks about having a chance to have one last dance with your father.
Reply:Well, I can't help you on the father daughter song...but my mom and dad fell in love and their song was " Hello Darlin' " by Conway Twitty.

It's very nice, "hello darlin' nice to see you, it's been a long time, you're just as lovely, as you used to be...etc."

However, listen to it...it may or may not be appropriate for the meaning you want to convey...but it's still an awesome song.
Reply:well for your husband 2 dance with u , the perfect song id by kenny latimore and the name of it is all my tomorrows.(BEAUTIFUL SONG TRUST ME). as far as the b-law.hmmmmm? thats hard sorry but that other song , i know is thank you for loving me by tamia, but its not good 4 a b-law.
Reply:dance with my father - luther vandross
Reply:Power of Love by Frankie Goes to Hollywood is a great song. Celine Dion does another version, but I like FGTH version better.

For your father/daughter song, Luther Vandross has a great one, but I can't recall the name.
Reply:First Song:

I agree with the Luther Van Dros - Dance with My Father

(It was the last song he wrote before he died; his swan-song) or

The Beatles -Here, There, Everywhere

Second Song:

I still love The Association - Cherish

Righteous Brothers - You're My Heart and My Soul's

Inspiration

The Carpenters - We've Only Just Begun

Shania Twain - Looks Like We Made It (country)

? - Could I Have This Dance, For The

Rest of My Life (country)

Best wishes for a lifetime of happiness.
Reply:Tim McGraw "My Little Girl"

Rascal Flatts "God Blessed the Broken Road"
Reply:My uncle died, and at my cousins wedding she danced with her mum to 'A Little Ray of Sunshine'. It was beautiful.
Reply:MY HUSBAND AND I LIKE THE SONG ALL I WANT TO DO IS DANCE WITH YOU BY GEORGE STRAIT. WE FELL IN LOVE WITH THAT SONG. I'M SURE YOU'LL FIND THE BEST SONGS FOR YOUR WEDDING. WISHING YOU THE BEST.
Reply:Just You and I is a nice 1st dance song

and for the other...how about Hero by Bette Midler
Reply:I know how tough it is, my dad had passed away and wasn't at my wedding either. Don't call it a father/daughter song.... One nice one is the one "What a Wonderful World". I think you and your man need to decide on your own song....
Reply:Brother-in-law song--When I needed you most by Kimaya Seward

Groom song--Because of you by Tony Bennett
Reply:I immediately thought of the Brad Paisley song, "He didn't have to Be." Or you could always pick "The Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler.

As for your first dance with your husband, I would think of "Grow Old With Me" or "I Will" by The Beatles. Mary Chapin Carpenter did a cool version of Grow Old With Me and Alison Krauss did a cool version of I Will. (She also did a really neat cover of Keith Whitley's "When You Say Nothing At All")
Reply:Our wedding my wife danced with her dad to "Landslide" by Stevie Nix

We danced to "Waiting for the Miracle" by Leonard Cohen, you know, the second song on the Natural Born Killers Soundtrack. I think its the second song. Check it out.
Reply:They played Floyed Cramers last dance at mine since my Dad past on %26amp; my best friends hubby walked me down the isle. Then She %26amp; I by Alabama, Donna Fargos. Happiest Girl , Reo Speedwagons Can't fight this feeling. The rose / Conwat Twitty. Dolly Pardens I will always love you, (in memory of my Dad.)
Reply:Another One Bites the Dust by Queen?
Reply:I'll Be by Edwin McCain...especially the acoustic version would be nice to dance with your brother-in-law to. As for your father....I'm not sure. Good Luck and Congratulations
Reply:A REALLY GOOD SONG IS "LANDSLIDE" BY FLEETWOOD MAC, IN THE BEGINING OF THE SONG SHE DEDICATES IT TO HER DAD, IT IS REALLY NICE
Reply:father/bother-in-law dance = "dance with my father" by luther vandross. listen to the lyrics, you'll be moved.
Reply:I cry everytime I hear this song By Heartland called "I loved her first". It may not be an exact fit, but I think it is worth the consideration.

Look at the two of you dancing that way

Lost in the moment and each others face

So much in love your alone in this place

Like there's nobody else in the world

I was enough for her not long ago

I was her number one

She told me so

And she still means the world to me

Just so you know

So be careful when you hold my girl

Time changes everything

Life must go on

And I'm not gonna stand in your way

But I loved her first and I held her first

And a place in my heart will always be hers

From the first breath she breathed

When she first smiled at me

I knew the love of a father runs deep

And I prayed that she'd find you someday

But it still hard to give her away

I loved her first

How could that beautiful women with you

Be the same freckle face kid that I knew

The one that I read all those fairy tales to

And tucked into bed all those nights

And I knew the first time I saw you with her

It was only a matter of time

But I loved her first and I held her first

And a place in my heart will always be hers

From the first breath she breathed

When she first smiled at me

I knew the love of a father runs deep

And I prayed that she'd find you someday

But its still hard to give her away

I loved her first

From the first breath she breathed

When she first smiled at me

I knew the love of a father runs deep

Someday you might know what I'm going through

When a miracle smiles up at you

I loved her first
Reply:"I'll Be" by Edwin Mccain. It's beautiful and appropriate. Your brother-in-law sounds like a wonderful man - treasure him.
Reply:I thinks the song is more like a man singing about a step-father, but the message may be the same for you. It's called "He Didn't Have to Be". By Brad Paisley. It is country and you can here it. It would be great if someone could sing it, making it fit you and your brother-in-law.
Reply:i went to a wedding and the most memorable father daughter dances was

(not sure if this is the title but) the beatles song

" there are places i remember"

I swear it made me cry....That would be lovely for you since your father is gone.....

Also celene Dions "im everything i am cause you loved me" was also a very touching dance....never thought of it in the father/daughter way...but since then cant see any other meaning.
Reply:Ok, now, hopefully, my job has opened my eyes to some great songs, dealing with the things youare unfortunately dealing with. I agree with some of the other answers Luther Vandross - Dance With My Father, with Luther's music, his music has nothing to do with"any particular type" of music, its just simply a great song to help you thru your dance w/o your father, yes, it says things that fit this particular situation well.. Ok, as far as your first song together "looks like we made it" or, an Older rock song is "Dont look back", or " I got you babe"
Reply:How old do you consider to be old?

What genre do you prefer?
Reply:Butterfly kisses by Bob Carlisle is an awesome father/daughter song. As far as you and your future husband goes...there are so many to choose from: No Place that Far by Sara Evans...Perfect by Sara Evans, Feels like home by Chantal Kravich, Joyride by Roxette, If you leave me now by Chicago, anything by Air Supply, or my song to my husband was and forever will be "waiting for you" by Richard Marx which was redone by Monica, Open Arms by Journey
Reply:I'm so glad you have someone to dance with. My dad passed away, too, so we're just doing away with those kinds of dances altogether.

It may be cheesy, but you could actually go with "You've Got a Friend" from Toy Story; partly because he treats you so well, and partly because you've known him since age 4.
