My step dad has been a part of my life for the past 8 years and I need a good song for me and him to dance to at my wedding. The song I picked out for me and my dad is Daddy's Hands, its a country song. And the song I thought about for me and my step dad was Hero by Maria Carey. Just looking for some suggestions.
What would be a good song for me and my step dad to dance to at my wedding?
What a lucky problem to love them both so much. How about wind beneath my wings by bette midler (and probably by others but I love her version)....if you are not familliar with it it is available on line I am sure. The words are sweet, won't take away from your fathers song with you but will say how much your step dad means to you and also has the line you are my hero in it, take a listen, see what you think, it is from the movie beaches, which if you haven't seen is the one movie I can watch over and over and cry like a baby everytime!!!! good luck!!!!!
Reply:I just recently got married in June 06, I had the same problem, what song to dance to with my step-father. We danced to Isn't She lovely by Stevie Wonder. We held hands a little and then danced more in a fun way. This song was more appropriate because he is not my real father, but he was just as important to me. I would of chose Butterfly Kisses and Daddy's Little Girl, but when you hear the lyrics it's very emotional. Imagine your father singing to you. So that is why I chose Isn't She Lovely.
Good Luck and best wishes to you!!!!!!!!!
Reply:My dad didn't walk me down the aisle when I got married (he chose not to come)....however, someone very imortant in my life that has always been there for me did, my grandfather. I looked forever to find the perfect song too. I stumbled across a song by Colin Raye that was wonderful called " I wish I could"...check it out:
Wish I Could
(Tom Douglas/Randy Thomas)
Looking out my window
See you playing in the leaves
It's amazing how a little girl
Means all the world to me
When I tell you that I love you
I love you more than words can say
Smile, say cheese pretty-please
I wanna take your picture
How'd you ever get so big
I gotta take your picture
Hold on to the memory before the whole thing slips away
I wish I could save these moments
And put 'em in a jar
I wish I could stop the world from turning
Keep things just the way they are
I wish I could shelter you from everything
Not pure and sweet and good
I know I can't, I know I can't
But I wish I could
When you kiss me for no reason
It goes straight to my heart
When I feel your arms around me
I almost fall apart
It's time for bed you whisper
Daddy, we forgot to pray
I wish I could save these moments
And put 'em in a jar
I wish I could stop the world from turning
Keep things just the way they are
I wish I could shelter you from everything
Not pure and sweet and good
I know I can't, I know I can't
But I wish I could
And when I watch you sleeping
All my worries fade away
A little bit of heaven glows on your angelic face
I wish I could save these moments
And put 'em in a jar
I wish I could stop the world from turning
Keep things just the way they are
I wish I could shelter you from everything
Not pure and sweet and good
I know I can't, I know I can't
I know I can't
But I wish I could
I hope it helps....if not you, maybe someone else. I just think its nice to have something unique that isn't heard at every wedding you go to. Good luck.
Reply:I love My Wish by Rascal Flatts. It a very nice song for a stepparent to dance to. Just a thought, but if you have Daddy's Hands for your Dad, and Hero for your stepdad, your Dad might be a little bit hurt. I don't know if they have a good relationship or not, but it might cause problems. Just a thought.
Reply:I think that some of these songs would be good for your first dance with your husband and stepdad and maybe even walking down the aisle.
