I love this song, the words (most of them) are beautiful, the music and rhythm are perfect to dance to... but... there is a bit in the song which makes out there are rumours that the woman is cheating. My question is, will people pick up on this and think its in reference to the bride and groom or will people just (I hope) focus on the 'baby it's you' bit? The thing is I don't think any song is going to perfectly represent any bride and groom (our at least our) relationship as they weren't written about the people but I just love this and maybe its cos music means this much to me that i am scared that people will think something and listen carefully when in facet i'm hoping the reality is that people will be drunk and go ahhhhhhh! here's the words... tell me what you think.....
How's about this for a wedding song first dance?
I'm picky about lyrics and I do tend to read into them a bit more than maybe I should.... What about seeing if you can hire someone to do it live and re write the words to fit you better.
I would want to be enjoying my first dance, not worrying about what people think of it.
Good luck.
Reply:It's not the kind of song i'd go for, but it's your wedding so whatever you want, you have.
Reply:It's your choice, try lady in red Chris de Burgh for lyrics, for yourself!
Or 'showing my age' try SLADE Everyday - circa 1973
Reply:not appropriate - the part you like doesn't make up for the rest of the message in the song. And, yes, people listen.
Reply:Whats important is if it is a song that the bride and groom want to remember as their wedding song. Personaly I dont think it sounds like a very promising song, and if others are listening to the words they will be worried about the relationship, but it is the bride and grooms choice over anyone elses.
Reply:eehh, I'd probably look for another
Reply:i have been to a few weddings and one of the things i loathe is when the bride and groom have their first dance to some mushy love song and the guests smile through clenched teeth and comment on how lovely the couple look while secretly waiting for the torment to be over.this is normally the part of the wedding that most people forget and the fact that the couple have probably danced together before does not make this show any better. give the guests something to remember and laugh about forever, play a song like" my sharona" by the knack and dance your asses off.
dont be scared to make a fool of yourself. it will live in their memories for a long time and also start your party with a bang
Reply:At my friend wedding the first song was Batchelor Boy by Cliff Richard. Guess how long the marriage lasted. That's right 6 weeks!
Reply:I don't know that I'd go with a song about a guy sitting home alone and crying because his girl is out fooling around on him as your first song with your new husband. Some people might not notice, but the ones that do are going to be talking about it for a while.
The "baby it's you" part just doesn't make up for the actual meaning of the song.
Just my opinion.
Reply:i think it is lovely, and if this is what you want then what does it matter what others think, this is your special day, hope this helps you make up your mind, congratulations and have a lovely dayxx
Reply:Pick another I think. If you are having doubts...........
Reply:Well, considering it's The Beatles, their songs are widely known, which means most people might pick up on the lyrics...so, it's your choice.

girl you are to me
all that a woman should be
and i dedicate my life to you always
a love like yours is rare
it must have sent from up above
and i know you'll stay this way for always
and we both know
that our love will grow
and forever it will be
you and me
ooh you're like the sun
chasing all of the rain away
when you come around
you bring brighter days
you're the perfect one
for me and you forever will be
and i will love you so for always
come with me my sweet
let's go make a family
and they will bring us joy for always
oh boy i love you so
can't find enough ways to let you know
but you can be sure i'm yours
for always
this song was number 3 in the uk charts in 1987 and number 1 in the us charts.....best wedding song ever
Reply:I love this song since I'm a huge fan of 60s girl group music! And I know what you mean about not wanting to highlight a song about cheating. I went so far as to look over the band's entire songlist for my wedding and pick out only songs that were happy or about true love...none of this "I Will Survive" stuff at my wedding! But I think you should do whatever you want at your wedding, and I bet you barely anyone will notice that part of the song. They'll mostly just enjoy the melody. Of course, you could always go over the lyrics with the singer and ask them to change it a little, repeat a verse or something. But, overall, I think it's a great choice!
Reply:Why not have the band perform an instrumental version of the song? It's got a beautiful melody, and like you said, it's a great rhythm to dance to!
By the way, in case you're considering dance lessons before the wedding, I highly recommend them. Before our marriage last September, my wife (to be, at the time) and I took six weeks of lessons. Our first dance --- "It Had to be You" --- could've gone a bit smoother, but we definitely felt much more confident on the dance floor than we would have if we'd just been "winging it".
Reply:If you are planning to dance with your father I think this is a good song.
In My Arms by Mark Wills
Three a.m. on the clock
Lullaby, music box
Oh, baby please don't cry
Let's let mama sleep tonight
You've only been home one day
You don't even know your name
Tiny hand on my cheek
You;re a miracle to me
In the still ness of the night
Cradled in this rocking chair
I hold all my hopes and dreams,
Every single answered prayer
In my arms
Wish I could hold you forever
In my arms
I will give you shelter
Still I know I can't always be there
To protect you from this great big old world
But I swear this much is true
There'll always be a place for you...in my arms
As I watch you take each breath
Oh, it scares me to death
To know you're counting on me
To be the daddy that you need
Wounded knees, broken hearts
Learning how to drive a car
When it's time for your first date
Will I know just what to say
And when you find that one true love
I'll put on my best smile
And I'll try to hide my tears
As I walk you down the aisle
In my arms
Wish I could hold you forever
In my arms
I will give you shelter
Still I know I can't always be there
To protect you from this great big old world
But I swear this much is true
There'll always be a place for you...in my arms
Oh, this promise I will keep
As you finally fall asleep...in my arms
And for your song to your groom
Jessica Simpsons I Wanna Love You Forever
You set my soul at ease
Chased darkness out of view
Left your desperate spell on me
Say you feel it too I know you do
I've got so much more to give
This can't die, I yearn to live
Pour yourself all over me
And I'll cherish every drop here on my knees
Chorus:
I wanna love you forever
And this is all I'm asking of you
10,000 lifetimes together
Is that so much for you to do
Cuz from the moment that I saw your face
and felt the fire of your sweet embrace
I swear I knew
I wanna love you forever
Verse:
My mind fails to understand
What my heart tells me to do
And I'd give up all I have just to be with you
And that would do
I've always been taught to win
And I never thought I'd fail
Be at the mercy of a man,I've never been
Now I only want to be right where you are
Chorus
Bridge:
In my life I've learned that heaven never waits
Let's take this now before it's gone
like yesterday
Cuz when I'm with you there's nowhere else
That I would ever wanna be no
I'm breathing for the next second I can feel you
Loving me..I'm gonna Love
Chorus
But its totally up to you.
