What is a good father/daughter wedding dance song for a father/daughter that do not get along?

My dad and I have never gotten along. I'm 28. It seems all the father/daughter dance songs are for those who have close relationships. We do not.

What is a good father/daughter wedding dance song for a father/daughter that do not get along?
I think in this case a slow sentimental song might be a bad idea and make you feel uncomfortable, not a feeling you want on your wedding day! I would go for something a little more upbeat and fun, like "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder. Maybe you could even drag your dad along to a couple of dance lessons. Good for you for including him even though you haven't always got along, a very mature decision.
Reply:The Long And Winding Road could be nice, if you are able to give your father (who I am assuming is paying for this wedding), a sweet smile and pretend that you are going to hate leaving home. You will miss yer Daddy when he's not there anymore, BTW.
Reply:butterfly kisses or I loved her first
Reply:One that comes to mind that is a "sweet" sounding song but honestly isn't is

'Because of You' by Kelly Clarkson.

I don't get along with my stepfather but if i had to dance with him for a song, this song would be it without a doubt.
Reply:i want to dance with my dad to "forever young" by rod stewart. check it out!
Reply:i would opt out of that whole thing. contemporary weddings these days do not require that. you can always pick something generic, something you enjoy. "loved you all along" by our lady peace is a good possibility?
Reply:Even though I love "I Saw Her First", I think it's not right for someone who doesn't get along. I would go with something generic %26amp; maybe scrap it or dance with your mom.
Reply:"Daughters" by John Mayer

Fathers be good to your daughters,

Daughters will love like you do.

Girls become lovers

Who turn into mothers

So mothers be good to your daughters too...

OR

"My Wish" by Rascal Flatts

I hope that the days come easy and the moments pass slow,

And each road leads you where you want to go,

And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,

I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.

And if one door opens to another door closed,

I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,

If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,

Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,

You never need to carry more than you can hold,

And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,

I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,

Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,

All the ones who love you, in the place you left,

I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,

And you help somebody every chance you get,

Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,

And you always give more than you take.

But more than anything, yeah, and more than anything,

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,

Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small, You

never need to carry more than you can hold,

And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,

I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,

But more than anything, yeah, and more than anything,

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,

Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,

You never need to carry more than you can hold,

And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,

I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,

This is my wish

i hope you know somebody who loves you

may all you dreams stay big
Reply:Dance with my father-by Luther Vandross..its a beautiful song even if you 2 arent close..im sure it will bring you close..good lucK!
Reply:No for sons but i think it is Hotel California :)
Reply:If you don't get along with him, why are you even dancing with him?
Reply:Why would you do a father/daughter dance if you don't get along with your dad? I've only once seen a father/daughter dance at a wedding. My best friend and her dad don't get along either so they just scrapped that. They did a first dance for the bride and groom and then a wedding party dance, but not the father/daughter dance. No point in dancing with someone you don't care too much for. It'll look fake and awkward.
Reply:The best thing to do is to take a list of songs to your DJ or Band and to ask them to play you a little of each song. This way you can get a "feel" for every one and an idea of the tempo. You want to choose something that will be meaningful as well, so look up the lyrics and make sure they will be appropriate. I think the best one for your specific situation (if you decide to dance with your father) is Wild World by either Cat Stevens or Maxi Priest. It is not specifically for a father and his daughter, but the words are pretty nice and not neccessarily about a very close relationship. Here is a list of songs I think are appropriate in general for a Father Daughter dance:

My Wish - Rascal Flatts

Daughters - John Mayer

Because of You - Kelly Clarkson

I Loved Her First - Heartland

Isn't she lovely - Stevie wonder

Wild World - Cat Stevens or Maxi Priest

Father %26amp; Daughter - Paul Simon

Butterfly Kisses - Bob Carlisle

Thank heavens for little girls - Maurice Chevalier

Because you loved me - Celine Dion

Some of these have already been mentioned above. Some of them are uptempo and cheeful and some are a little more soppy.

Please don't use "Dance with my Father" by Luther Vandross. Although it is a very beautiful song, it is really about a father who has passed on. Not a good choice for a song on your wedding day with your father.

Good luck!
Reply:Try "I loved her first" by Heartland. It talks more about the day the daughter was born. here are the lyrics.

"I Loved Her First" by Heartland

Look at the two of you dancing that way

Lost in the moment and each others face

So much in love your alone in this place

Like there's nobody else in the world

I was enough for her not long ago

I was her number one

She told me so

And she still means the world to me

Just so you know

So be careful when you hold my girl

Time changes everything

Life must go on

And I'm not gonna stand in your way

But I loved her first and I held her first

And a place in my heart will always be hers

From the first breath she breathed

When she first smiled at me

I knew the love of a father runs deep

And I prayed that she'd find you someday

But it still hard to give her away

I loved her first

How could that beautiful women with you

Be the same freckle face kid that I knew

The one that I read all those fairy tales to

And tucked into bed all those nights

And I knew the first time I saw you with her

It was only a matter of time

But I loved her first and I held her first

And a place in my heart will always be hers

From the first breath she breathed

When she first smiled at me

I knew the love of a father runs deep

And I prayed that she'd find you someday

But its still hard to give her away

I loved her first

From the first breath she breathed

When she first smiled at me

I knew the love of a father runs deep

Someday you might know what I'm going through

When a miracle smiles up at you

I loved her first
Reply:Why are you having a father daughter dance if you don't get along?
Reply:Don't have a dance then. If you are not close and it would be uncomfortable don't do the dance thing.
